Tip #39H: Have a Little Faith!
The other day, I had an opportunity to speak with a young man for an hour or so. We started talking about faith in God, etc. He said he had a lot of questions about God & faith and I followed that up with "I do too". It seemed as if he felt he didn't need God and wasn't interested. I told him that he is living a very comfortable life right now and everything seems to be going well for him but there will come a time when he will have issues, problems, and heartaches that no other human can fix and when that time comes, he will need to draw on a strength much greater than his. He nodded and said that he will probably have his hard times in college. Haha. As humans, we put so much faith in other people, things, situations, relationships, etc. that are not worthy of it. I know people that waste tons of money buying lottery tickets. Why? Because their hope and faith is in the lottery. They believe somehow they will hit it big. Odds are, they won't. Many people put their faith in their no-good, lousy boyfriends/girlfriends when they are just not a good match. Why? Because they settle for less and are desperate. Some people put their complete faith and trust in their friends and we all know that friends change. Others put their trust in the tooth fairy and Santa Claus...okay, I'll stop there (I know I took it too far). The point of this post is to have you consider putting your faith and trust in God. Life is too complex to try to figure everything out on your own (or even with the help of good friends). I put my faith in God nearly three decades ago and He has proven himself to be the most dependable piece of my life. There were times when I was at my lowest point and I felt God's gentle touch carrying me through those rough and most unimaginable situations. Who I am, what I have, and where I am headed is because of Him. I pray that you soon find out that God has great plans for your life! All you have to do is ask Him to show you His plans and have a little faith. If you have any questions, feel free to post a comment or send me an email.
