Tip #44: Take the Road Less Traveled.

I love traveling. Seeing new places and doing new things are awesome. I usually take a plane but every now and then, a road trip isn't too bad. The one thing I hate, however, is the traffic. Let's face it, no one wants to be trapped in a car at a standstill, right? I hope to "drive home" (pun intended) the point of this post by having you consider riding on the road less traveled. Robert Frost wrote a poem about it but before you start screaming and yelling at me regarding the true meaning of his poem, I already know he may not have meant it the way I'm going to tell it and I'm okay with that. He said this in the closing of his poem:

"...Two roads diverged in a wood, and I— I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference."

In life, you pretty much have two roads by which you can travel. I'll call them the "low road" and the "high road". The "low road" is filled with fun, parties, people, what's popular, trendy, and everything else exciting. It's also filled with traffic jams, tie-ups, disappointments, wrecks, let-downs, and a whole lot of heartache and grief. The "high road", on the other hand, is like one of those two-lane, country, back roads that's filled with great scenery, meadows, mountains, and serenity. You don't find a lot of traffic there. You can let the top down on your convertible, take in the breeze, and then stop to pick flowers along the way. Okay, wait! I know I went too far. Either way, the road less traveled is one that may not be popular, trendy, or stimulating but it will definitely help you get a different view of life and at the same time, keep you from getting into many jams. If you're traveling on the "low road" right now, take a moment to make a legal u-turn and get on the "high road". It's never too late.
